Copyrights Manager

What does a Copyrights Manager do?

A copyrights manager oversees catalogues his “client” administers, ensuring all works are notified, collected for and paid out correctly. He registers and notifies copyrighted works, dealing with conflicts or chasing up royalty payments. To manage a music publishing business, one needs a copyright manager. Typical tasks include registering a new catalogue of titles, ensuring a release is registered locally with the performing rights society, PRS for Music, or internationally through an affiliate. This ensures that royalties paid by the record label are paid out to the publisher and composer. He digitally sends new works to be included on the PRS for Music database. Other duties include managing any duplicate claims which arise or responding to any claim enquiries from other publishing companies and our own affiliated companies which represent us around the world.
